Mountain Crystal

The King amongst crystals as it was known, owing to its flawless transparency that was often equated to that of the diamond.  The Ancient Greeks few would know, considered this mineral to be a form of Ice which lost its property to melt and hence the word Crystallos actually meant ice. Japanese embroiderers likewise knew how to make good on the rare properties in mountain crystal, using it even for cooling their hands during labour. In Poland, this crystal is found mainly in Lower Silesia and the Karkonosze mountains.
