Characterised by a milky yet also shimmering streak, the stone for this reason was adopted in Tibet as a symbol for the white, pristine flower Lotus. The ancients claimed that stones and rings made from Chalcedony protected from faintness and weakness, even having the ability to bring about the maternal instinct in women. Chalcedony was furthermore regarded as a stone for the orators and those who would touch it were to be endowed with the talent of oratory.
